How much do I need?
The usual restaurant portion is about 55g(2oz) for a starter and twice as much for a main course (110g or 4oz). However, if you allow your guests to help themselves it would be wise to budget for a little extra - especially when serving MacGilvray's! There is no wastage in our packs of slices or sliced sides but when ordering an unsliced side remember to make a small allowance for the skin.
How long will it keep in the fridge?
At the time of despatch our smoked salmon has a refrigerated shelf life (at 2-5°C) of three weeks. However, to take account of the time it will spend at ambient temperature in the post, the recommended use-by date is two weeks from the date of despatch. Every item is clearly marked on the outside of the box with both the despatch date and the use-by date and detailed storage instructions are enclosed for your guidance.
Can I freeze it?
Yes, our traditionally cured salmon had a relatively low water content and freezes extremely well for up to 3 months.
How much notice do you need?
Try if you can to give us a week for UK deliveries and 10 days for overseas ones. However, in an emergency we suggest you give us a ring on +44 (0)1227 276722. Orders received by 11:00am can usually be despatched the same day - except in the run-up to Christmas.
We will always do our best to accomodate last minute Christmas orders but we cannot guarantee to do so after 5th December for overseas despatches and 15th December for the UK.
How do I know you have received my order?
All advance orders will be acknowledged as soon as they have been processed and you will be given a unique order number. If you need to change anything prior to despatch please quote this number when contacting us.
